Findspot record TR 36 NW 183 - Romano-British finds, near Manston Airport, Minster

Summary

A potin coin was found near the A253 by metal detector during the construction of the Monkton gas pipeline in 1984. As a result of this find the area was examined further: a number of Romano British pot-sherds dating to the late 1st and early 2nd centuries were found spread out over a large area. (location accurate to the nearest 10m based on available information)

Full Description

[TR 32566555 sited from plan] A Potin coin was found by metal detector during the construction of the Monkton gas pipeline in 1984. As a result of this find the area was examined further, revealing Romano British pot-sherds in late 1st to early 2nd century fabrics, grouped within a circular patch 80cm across. (1,2)
