Summary
A grave was found during the construction of a gas pipeline in 1984. This feature was orientated on an east west alignment and was found at a depth of 0.3m. It was cut into brickearth, and the floor was a natural chalk surface. Much of the skeleton was destroyed by the cutting of the pipeline. Analysis of the remaining bones indicated a female aged 25-35 years old.
The grave lies on the upper slope of a south facing ridge, aprox. OD 40m

Full Description
[TR 34126522 sited from plan] A grave was found during the construction of the Monkton gas pipeline in 1984. It was found at a depth of 0.30m and was orientated east-west, head west. The grave was in brickearth, with the floor of the grave consisting of the natural chalk surface. It was sectioned longitudinally by the pipe trench, and much of the skelton destroyed. Remains of a female aged 25-35 years. (1)
