Monument record TR 36 NW 211 - Enclosure soilmark, Monkton parish
Summary
The soilmark of a double ditched enclosure has been previously recorded in field in the east of Monkton parish. This feature was reportedly large in size, 0.3 m in diameter and was identified as possibly a barrow or henge monument. This feature is recorded in the Isle of Thanet Sites and Monuments Archive, but there is no record of it on the Royal commission on the Historic Monuments of England aerial photographs. The precise location of the monument remains uncertain, although it is thought to lie just to the north of the footpath in close proximity to a number of other cropmarks in the area.
