Findspot record TR 36 NW 216 - Early-medieval bead and iron knife, A299 (A253), Telegraph Hill, Minster

Summary

An early-medieval cane bead and iron knife were both found near the A253 at Mount Pleasant, near Telegraph Hill, during work to lay a pipeline in 1984. 14 graves were found non recorded, thes were destrioyed during the construction of the pipe-line. The finds were recorded in the Isle of Thanet Sites and Monuments Archive but there is little information. The artefacts were identified as of 7th century Anglo-Saxon type. It is not known where the finds are now located. The site lies appears to extend across the brow and upper part of a south facing slope, OD 40-55m.

Full Description

TR 315657 Anglo Saxon bead and iron knife. During work on the Monkton-Ramsgate gas pipe line a cane bead and an iron knife were found, both of the late 7th century Anglo-Saxon type. (1)
