Monument record TR 36 NW 222 - Denehole, Plumstone road, Monkton parish

Summary

A chalk chamber is located 3m to the south of Plumstone road near Acol. This was investigated by Thanet Archaeological Unit in 1984. The work revealed sherds of Romano-British pottery in the infill of the chamber. It was uncertain whether these pottery sherds originally came from the chamber or had accumlated there as a result of slipping through a hole in the chalk. The present locatio of this assemblage is uncertain and it is not known in what condition this monument now exists.

Full Description

TR 30236677. Denehole. In 1984 Thanet Archaeological Unit was asked to investigate a chalk chamber 3m south of Plumstone Road. Romano British sherds where foundin the lower infill of the chamber but they could have come in at a later date through a hole in the chalk dome. (1)
