In 2007 Oxford Archaeology carried out an evaluation. Roman cremations were found in two locations. (1)

In 2008 Swale and Thames Archaeological Survey Company carried out a programme of works at Neats Court, Queenborough. In total 25 Roman cremations were found scattered across the eastern part of the site. Pottery from these cremations was of conquest period to mid 3rd century date. Most of the cremations were accompanied by 2 or more vessels, some with as many as six. Three of the cremations contained remains of brooches. An inhumation was found alongside one group of cremations and could be of Roman date. (2)

The scattered distribution of these cremations, often in isolation from any other features of similar date, could be the result of truncation. They may represent a field system that existed across the area in the early Roman period, with the burials occurring in the corners or at the edges of these fields and now being the only surviving recognised element of this landscape.
