Full Description
TR 3575 6438 Medieval well shaft. On farmland adjacent to eastern paddock boundary of Little Cliffsend Farm a well shaft was discovered on earth subsidence in 1985. This was excavated by Thanet Archaeological Unit to a depth of 16m. The fill of brown loam contained midden remains and mid to late medieval pottery. The top 3m of the well shaft was cut down through brickearth and lined with sandstone boulders. (1)
