Full Description

In 1998 Museum of London Archaeology Service carried out an excavation as part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link project. A series of enclosures and a working hollow containing two ovens all dated to the medieval period. The ovens were probably used for crop processing, with rye, oats and wheat grains all recovered. The ovens went out of use in the 13th century, after which the only activity on the site consisted of a series of enclosure ditches. These went out of use in the late 13th century. (1)
