Full Description
[TR 3437 6394] St Augustine's Well [NR] (1) St Augustine's Well is a strong natural spring. A small plaque to the E of it reads :- "St. Augustine's Well. This is the traditional spot where St.Augustine camped with his monks on reaching England in the spring of the year 597. A legend arose that water sprang up where St. Augustine planted his staff".
