Full Description

The Ditton Laboratories were a research institute working on preservation methods for foodstuffs for transportation. It opened in 1929 and carried out experiments with refrigeration, including a quarter-scale model of a ship's hold. After the Second World War it moved on to focus on researching harvesting, handling, storage and marketing issues. The laboratory closed in the late 20th century. (1)

The buildings were surveyed prior to demolition in 2012. (2)
