[Name TR 337607] Salt Works [GT] (site of) Salt works were established on the seaward side of the ruined Stonar by the Crispe family after they bought the estate in 1558. As late as 1851, 52 persons were employed in the salt works. This area is occupied by myceluim filter beds and no evidence of salt-working remains.

Post Medieval salt works first visible on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition [5] and still visible on the Ordnance Survey 1946 edition [6]. The site was seen to be in use as a water treatment works on Google Earth photography taken in 2007 [7].
