Monument record TR 36 SW 28 - Site of C16th beacon, Minster

Summary

A "carde" by William Lambarde of beacon sites from the 16th century shows that there were 52 in Kent and one located at Minster. This beacon system is thought to have dropped out of use after 1640. Nothing of the monument remains and it is uncertain where it was precisely located. No further information about the beacon could be found.
