[TR 3160 6017] Cropmarks (ring ditch) on photo. (1) A much spread mound some 40.0 m in diameter and 0.5 m in height, situated on a spur projecting into the Wantsum Channel. The cruciform central marking and interrupted ditch, visible on the AP mark this as the site of a post-mill. Surveyed at 1:2500. (2) TR 3162 6018 Cropmarks indicating site of post mill. (3)

The cropmark remains of the Medieval/post Medieval post mill described by the previous authorities were seen centred at TR 3160 6017 and mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Hertiage Richborough Environs Project.

The remains of the windmill mound with the cropmark traces of a central cross shaped depression from the foundations of the post structure clearly visible. The mound is located on a small south facing promontory and is enclosed within a circular ditch with a diameter of c.33m. To the south-east is an incomplete U-shaped ditch defined annexe (of unknown date) measuring 35m x 45m with traces of indistinct features on the south-eastern edge of the windmill mound. It is possible that the windmill was located on a site of earlier activity, possibly a settlement. (4-5)
