Summary

A 15th century house was formerly located at Durlock in the south east of Minster. Located near the Benedictine Abbey, Durlock Grange was constructed in the 15th century, and saw further additions in the 18th and 19th centuries. The original structure was timber framed, but the later additions were of brick. Nothing of this house now remains at the site.

Full Description

TR 313 642 Durlock grange, situated 300 yards SE of the Benedictine Abbey gates. House, of timber, two storeys. Wealden type of house built in the 15th century, with open hall partly screened from cross passage in lower end bay; open crown post truss off centre. Lower end extended to two bays later in C15th. Upper floor and chimney inserted in hall in late C16th. Additions in brick in C18 and C19. (1)
