Monument record TR 37 SE 4 - Roman burials

Summary

Several burials were found in graves cut out of the chalk in digging the foundations of the Charity School, Margate, in 1791. Associated finds included coins of Probus, Maximian, Helena and Pupienus and a sword and scabbard. A small urn with ashes was found the following year in excavations for a cellar in the next house.
