Full Description
A large number of unpatinated flakes, cores, scrapers and other implements, also "eoliths of late prehistoric date" from a "floor", were found by Burchell in 1935 at TQ 56737485. The site was on undisturbed ground, resting on gravel and covered by some five feet of stony marsh clay. Burchell and Moir (b) refer to the floor as being of "late pre-Neolithic" date and seek to prove that the association of authentic implements with "eoliths" is evidence that the latter are the results of human workmanship. Also found was a very Early Iron Age necked globular pot. The finds were deposited in the British Museum. The site is now under waste ground (1). Additional references (2-5).
