Monument record TR 37 SW 3 - Roman site, St. Mildreds, Margate

Summary

A Roman site was found during excavations in the Grounds of St. Mildred's hotel in 1869-70. Amongst the finds were coins, burial urns and a pavement. During a rescue excavation at the site in 1987 only a layer of Belgic and Romano-British remains was dicovered in one area of the site. The rest appeared to have been destroyed on discovery. The hotel is now a block of flats. The current location of the finds is unknown.
