Findspot record TR 37 SW 9 - Roman finds, Westgate foreshore, Margate
Summary
200 Roman brass coins and a number of other small finds were discovered on Westgate foreshore in 1845. The coins dated from the reigns of the Emperors Tetricus to Gratian (c.268-375). They were reportedly found in a number of locations suggesting they did not come from a hoard. The other small finds included many broken brooches, several rings and bronze bangles and bracelets. It is not known where these finds are now located.

Full Description
Two hundred small brass Roman coins, mostly minimi, dating from Tetricus to Gratian, a plated denarius of Maximin, many broken brooches, several rings, bronze bangles and bracelets were picked up on Westgate shore during 1845. [The finder infers that the objects were found separately. In that case, the coins would not necessarily constitute a hoard]. (1,2)
