Full Description
[TR 326 704] Silver strap-end found on the beach in 1980 at St Mildred's Bay, Westgate-on-Sea. The strap-end dates to the C9th and has an animal-head terminal decorated in the 'Trenhiddle style' of Anglo-Saxon art. It is now in the Royal Museum, Canterbury. (1,2) The silver strap end was found by a metal detector. He relates that he excavated this from an ancient buried horizon composed of reeds and/or rushes. (3)
