Full Description
TR 400680. In 1967 Mr Montagu Puckle (then Deputy Keeper of Archaeology, St Albans Museum), found a small scraper and 10-12 geometric microliths on the beach `east of Bleak House'. He believed them to have eroded from the cliff-top overburden which is at that point sand and brickearth c.1.5m deep. The flints were passed to Dr Weacter of the Institute of Archaeology, London. They were thought to be Mesolithic in date (1)
Re-examined in 2010, although some may be worked, none could convincingly be regarded as of Mesolithic date. Now in the Powell Cotton Museum archaeological store.
