Monument record TQ 94 SE 45 - Windmill (possible), Great Chart with Singleton

Summary

A windmill was located at Great Chart with Singleton during the 19th century. A mill is recorded on the Ordnance Survey 1st edtion map to the east of Great chart and north of Singleton and it is presumed that this is the site that was the basis for the creation of this record. The mill is called Buxford mill and appears to have still been in use c.1922, as recorded on the 3rd edtion Ordnance survey map of this period.

Full Description

A smock mill of the late 17th to early 18th century. Consists of painted brick ground floor with weatherboarding above. The mill also includes the millhouse, all of ahich has now been converted into a house There is no indication of this site on the Ordnance Survey 1st edtion map and no further detaisl about the site are known. (1)
