Monument record TQ 74 SE 20 - Post-medieval windmill, Staplehurst

Summary

A smock mill built in the 18th century. The mill was used as a cereals mill, but had been left to go derelict after 1882. On 22nd June 1911, the mill was burnt down by the villagers to celebrate Coronation Day. The base of the mill now remains.
