Court Lodge Farm is mentioned in the English Heritage Historic Area Assessment for Stoke Parish (part of the wider Hoo Peninsula project). The report mentions that the manor of Stoke was centred on the village but the whereabouts of the manor house is unknown. They state that the name of Court Lodge Farm, originally sited to the south of the parish chruch, may be a reference to its use as a manorial court. The manor was the subject of a dispute in the 11th century, eventually settled in favour of the Bishop of Rochester. After the Reformation, Henvry VIII granted the manor to Dean and Chapter of Richester, eventually passing to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners in the late 19th century. In the latter 19th century, this farm was leased by Henry Pye, who has been credited with modernising agriculture on the peninsula and leased several farms in the parish of St Mary Hoo, where he lived. He is likely to have promoted seed growing in the parish. Although no longer in agricultural use, the Farm retains a handsome red-brick farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century and grade II listed. There are also several outbuildings including an 18th century granary also grade II listed. Two late 19th century cottages remain from the former farmstead of Court Lodge Farm, which stood to the south of the churchyard, both enlarged and reworked in the late 20th century.(3)
