A group of post medieval farm buildings named Red Wick are depicted on the 1864 Ordnance Survey map. They were situated at the eastern end of Well's Marshes, at the south-west corner of the Isle of Grain and were centred on TQ 8711 7411. Still in existence in 1933 the site had gone by 1946, the area partly encroached upon by the eastern end of the Admiralty oil fuel station (NMR1540697). This site was identified as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(3-5)
