Full Description
The site of an aisled timber framed barn at Bellevue, Lymne, TR 109 352, with probable late medieval origins (therefore about 1380-1540). When the site was visited in 1961 as part of the National Buildings Record programme the timber work was still reported to have been extant up to the level of the tie-beam but was roofless. The walls of the barn were of flint. The archive from the visit comprises a simple hard-copy recording sheet with a very basic freehand elevation sketch of one bay. (1)
An officer from Kent HER notes that this barn may have stood at the southern side of the farmyard at National Grid Reference TR 10957 35181. It was demolished sometime in the second half of the 20th century. (2)
The Ordnance survey map of 1873 shows a large structure at the south end of Bellevue yard, at about TR 10957 35181. The structure is no longer marked on modern ordnance survey maps.(3)
