Monument record TQ 57 SE 113 - Roman cremation burials 1st and 2nd c AD
Summary
Earthmoving prior to gravel digging in School Field, north of the B260 revealed a number of Romano-British cremation burials. The digger believed the pots, with bone fragments and ash, were in clusters of three over an area fifteen yards in diameter and about five feet deep. The pottery recovered was badly smashed but included a Samian saucer and amphorae, and is now in the possession of Mr. J Ritson at Dartford Museum, who suggests dating of late first or early second century.
