Full Description
Former site of hop pickers huts north of August Pitts. Built sometime between 1842 and 1875 (nothing is visible on the Tithe map of 1842 but two structures are visible on the first edition Ordnance Survey map). Six additional structures (probable hoppers huts) are added to the adjacent southern field and appear on the third edition OS map (1907 – 1923). However, these do not appear on the fourth edition OS map (1929 – 1952). The two original huts are visible on the 1940s aerial photographs, although they appear to have been demolished sometime after 1947.
Identified by the Historic Farmsteads Survey. (1)
