Full Description

Former site of an oast in Teston. The building is first recorded as a rectangular structure with a possible kiln visible on the north side, on the 1797 OS drawings, suggesting it was probably constructed in the late eighteenth century. The building is shown in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions of the OS map with the addition of more kilns on the north side. The building was demolished in the 1st part of the twentieth century with the four structures currently occupying the site shown on the 4th edition of OS map and the 1946/1947 aerial photographs.
