Full Description
Former site of an oast house in East Malling. The building is first recorded as a rectangular structure in 1797 OS drawings, suggesting it was probably constructed in the late eighteenth century. The building does appear in the tithe map by the time of 1840s. The building is shown in the 1st edition, it looks like some kilns got added in the south and east side including in the 2nd and 3rd edition of the OS map. Later on the 4th edition by the 2nd quarter of twentieth century the front range is demolished. There were only
kilns standing by the end of 1940s. The building is completely demolished and cleaned by 1990.
