Full Description

Between 2005 and 2007 Canterbury Archaeological trust carried out a watching brief. A raised road was found comprising metalled surfaces overlying a substantial build-up of re-deposited clays. Below the clays, there was a wooden revetment running down the centre of the road. At least four planks high, the revetment was placed against the clay bank with external driven posts holding them in place. (1)
