Full Description
In 2003 Canterbury Archaeology Trust carried out an excavation. A large slightly curving ditch was found on the east side of the area excavated. A causeway across it, flanked by post holes, may represent an entrance way into an enclosure. The enclosure itself appears to underlie Queen's Farm to the east. A four-post structure was found within the enclosure.
A second Iron Age enclosure, rectilinear in form, was later laid out on a different alignment. A pit alignment appears to have been associated with this phase of activity. A curving ditch was possibly an eavesdrip of a roundhouse c.7m in diameter. (1)
A small irregular rectilinear ditch-defined enclosure of uncertain date seen as a cropmark adjacent to Queen`s Farm. The enclosure is trapezoidal in form, measuring approximately 8.5m x 21m. This was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(2)
