A Second World War type 24 pillbox located at Hale Court Farm, near the River Medway. The pillbox was constructed in 1940-41, built of reinforced concrete and wood and has the identification number A46. A field visit in 1998 found the pillbox extant and in a fair condition

Standard FW3/24 pillbox (wood-shuttered) situated in undergrowth on banks of River Medway with field of fire across river to E to railway. Forms part of the Newhaven to Penshurst stopline. Identification number A46.

also visited by C. Urquhart 7/5/98, who describes an adjacent deep ditch that could be part of original anti-tank ditch. Hale Court Farm, near River Medway, Ashurst (Kent). (1)
