Full Description
Selby Barn was a timber framed thatched building that burnt down in 1966. The barn was built sometime after 1692, as it does not appear on the estate map of that date. [A building is shown on OS drawings of 1798 and 1799]. It is thought that it was built in the second half of the 18th century. It consisted of six bays and was 13.64m by 20.73m. There was a central threshing bay, the chalk floor of which was found in 2001. There were also a north and a south range. (1)
