Full Description

In 2008 Archaeology South-East carried out a survey. A hedgerow was recorded: This field boundary can be traced back to the OS Map of 1798 and situated on top of a bank or possible field lynchet. It is protected under the Hedgerows Regulations 1997. It therefore forms an integral part of a pre-1845 field system. This feature is situated on top of a bank or possible field lynchet. It is protected under the Hedgerows Regulations 1997.

A field boundary comprising several large oaks set on a low bank or possible lynchet. The hedge itself is scrappy, comprising several large trees with an under storey of hawthorn, elder, blackthorn, brambles and dog rose. Several large gaps exist along its length, possibly resulting from areas having been
grubbed out to open up and allow access to the neighbouring western field. The gaps in the undergrowth allowed identification of the underlying low bank or possible lynchet, with a shallow drop of variable depth (0.20m- 0.50m) to the west.

A section was cut across the hedge bank revealing its make up of silty clay over Gault clay. (1)
