Listed Building record TQ 76 NW 816 - Cuxton Signal Box
Summary
Cuxton Signal Box is a South Eastern Railway Signal Box, on the Maidstone and Strood Railway (in 2013 known as the Medway Valley Line). It was probably constructed in the late 1887 to 1889. Although its exact opening time is not known, it is similar in appearance to other signal boxes erected in this area around that time. A porch was added in the 20th century. The signal box is a timber-frame construction clad in horizontal weatherboarding with a hipped slate roof. The two-storey building has a flight of wooden steps at the north-east end which gives access to the operating room. Under the porch is the entrance to the locking room. Inside is the South Eastern Railway 7’’ Brady Lever Frame of possibly 1892.
