Full Description

In 2008 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out a survey of the air raid shelter prior to planned demolition. The shelter was subterranean, approximately 30m x 21m in size, below an earthen mound 0.4m high. There were six interconnecting passages with two entrances. There were heavy steel blast doors with spy holes in them, one of which was in situ at the time of survey. It was a large and complex shelter. (1)
