Full Description
In 2011 Archaeology South-East carried out an evaluation. Military ditches were found in the north part of the site. These contained 20th century material and an unfired Mark 7 .303 bullet was found in the subsoil above the features. This was thought to be of Second World War American manufacture. A cap badge of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps was also found. (1)
The trenches form a zigzag pattern. No activity is visible on aerial photos of the late 1940s though possible traces of the in-filled ditches are visible. It is likely that these relate to First World War period activity on the site.
