Full Description

A Second World War air raid shelter, one of seven on Amherst Hill. The shelter is built of concrete, is partially subterraneous and covered by a mound of earth. The other examples opened were found to be round-vaulted chambers about 5m long and 2m high and about 2m at their widest. There are two entrances with toilet cubicles in each. Some of the toilets retained their original galvanized buckets with seats. Surveyed in 2006. (1)
