Full Description
In 2008 Wessex Archaeology carried out an evaluation. Test pits found gravel deposits on the site. The gravel was interpreted as equivalent to the Lynch Hill/Corbets Tey gravel at Purfleet, which occurs at a similar level and is dated to MIS 10-8, between c. 350,000 and 250,000 BP. Samples of this gravel were sieved and two waste flint flakes were found, one from gravel in TP 6, and another from gravel in TP 8. No mammalian remains were found. (1)
