Full Description
Site of a Second World War heavy anti aircraft (Diver) Battery in the Diver Box at Minster College [no trace of this battery is visible at that location]. It was armed with eight 3.7-inch Mark IIc guns, and was occupied from July 26th 1944, when it was manned by 176 Anti Aircraft Artillery Regiment. It was redeployed to TQ926699 at a later date [the location of this record]. It formed part of 28 Anti Aircraft Artillery Brigade.
Traces of the battery are visible on aerial photos of 1946/7.
