Full Description
Bifrons, country house nr Patrixbourne since at least C16, demolished 1948. Site of W wing excavated 1988-9 revealling walls of late C16-early C17, prob the first E plan Jacobean house that were incorporated into the 1767 rebuild. Alterations to the house made in 1830s but major rebuilding in 1863-4 when Georgian house largely demolished and ground level raised 2m on N side and barrel vaulted cellars inserted from under drive into the C18 basement.
