Summary

A tunnel connecting two quarry pits on either side of Craylands Lane was used as a Second World War air raid shelter tunnel under Craylands Lane, Swanscombe. This was a quarry railway tunnel which had been sandbagged at its ends. This was done in September, 1939. No other details are known. The tunnel is no longer visible, having been buried under landfill. (location accurate to the nearest 10m based on available information)
