Second World War Emergency Feeding Centre formed at a Victorian house called Belle Vue, Stanhope Road, Swanscombe, Kent. It was established in 1942, with equipment and food kept on the premises. The St. John Ambulance Brigade used the basement. Later in 1942 the building may have also assumed the function of a rest centre. The longevity of these arrangements is unknown. The building still exists, now called Stanhope House. (1) The house and its grounds are visible on the historic OS maps of the area (2-5)
