Full Description
Second World War surface air raid shelter in the NW corner of the playing field of Knockhall School, Eynsford Road, Greenhithe, Kent. This was oblong in plan and with a flat concrete roof. Capacity was probably in excess of 100, probably intended to be school children. It may have been built in 1940 and would have remained in commission until 1945. It still existed in 1986 but was later demolished, the site being now occupied by the Greenhithe and Commity Market Garden. There was an underground shelter in the centre of the same playing field.
