Former site of a public swimming pool. The site was used during the Second World War for a number of civil defence purposes. It was demolished in the late 20th century.

An air raid siren was sited in 1939 at the swimming pool on the south side of London Road, Swanscombe. In the spring of 1943 the siren was moved to the air raid wardens post in Knockhall Chase. No other details are known. (1-2)

The pool was also used as an emergency source of water for the fire service to supplement the mains in the event of additional water being required to put out fires caused by air raids. This provision dates from June, 1941 if not earlier. Length of use unknown. (3)

A public trench air raid shelter was established in the vicinity of the public swimming pool. This dated from September, 1939, complete with concrete linings. No other details are known. (4)

A decontamination centre was established in late 1939 at the public swimming pool, London Road, Dartford, Kent. No other details are known. (5)
