Full Description
Second World War air raid wardens post on the west side of Knockhall Chase, near its junction with London Road, Greenhithe, Kent. It was a small rectangular concrete building (about 3.5 m x 3.5 m) with a flat concrete roof. There was a single entrance and a small rectangular window. In 1943 an air raid siren was added to its roof, fixed to a metal frame. The post and its siren continued in use into the Cold War. It was demolished c. 1995 to make way for the Greenhithe Service Centre at present on its site. (1-2)
