Full Description
Second World War Home Guard Defended Locality DL45 at Everards ship building and repair yards, Greenhithe, Kent. This was part of the local anti-invasion defences and was probably designated in 1940. The nature and exact location of the defences is unknown but they would have been concerned with the defence of the riverside industry and of the riverline at Greenhithe. The garrison was 23 Home Guard, with 9 rifles and 2 BLA. The defences would have been decommissioned by early 1944. Nothing of the defences remains and the site is occupied by modern housing. (1)
