Full Description
Second World War Home Guard defended Locality DL38 at Horns Cross, Dartford, Kent. It was probably designated in 1940 and would have been decommissioned by early 1944. The nature and location of the defences are unknown. However, from their general position, the defences were probably concerned with impeding the movement of an enemy west along the London Road and probably defending the ground on either flank. The Home Guard garrison was 31, with 17 rifles, 1 BAR, 2 Northover Projectors and 1 TG. There is also a note of the availablity of nearby regular troops, amounting to 79 men, with 75 rifles and 3 Lewis guns. Nothing of the defences is known to remain.
