Full Description
The Odeon at Ashford, opened 31 August 1936, was a takeover scheme in that it was acquired from A E Abrahams and was originally to be a Regal. It has a brick and stone exterior and an old-fashioned interior. A largish Odeon with 1,570 seats, it competed for business with the smaller Cinema and Palace until the latter closed down in 1939. The cinema closed on 30 August 1975 and re-opened as the Top Rank Club for bingo hall in early 1976 (1)
