Full Description
In 2007 Canterbury Archaeological Trust excavated four small trenches at the corner of The Parade and Mercery Lane as part of renovation works on a medieval building. One reached a sequence of Roman floors, occupation layers and structural features. The later structural phases related to a substantial masonry building. This is thought to be a high status town house extending over much of the site. (1)
